Introducción: las habilidades blandas, como la empatía, la comunicación, la asertividad y la inteligencia emocional, constituyeron un componente esencial en el cuidado crítico, donde el paciente y su familia enfrentaron condiciones de alta vulnerabilidad física y emocional, lo que exigió al profesional de enfermería articular la competencia técnica con la capacidad de brindar acompañamiento humano en escenarios clínicos complejos. Objetivo: analizar las habilidades blandas del profesional de enfermería en el cuidado humanizado dirigido al paciente crítico y su familia, identificando su relevancia en la práctica clínica y los vacíos existentes en la formación profesional. Metodología: se desarrolló una revisión sistemática de tipo descriptivo bajo las directrices PRISMA, mediante la búsqueda de artículos publicados entre 2021 y 2025 en bases de datos como PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, SciELO y Google Scholar, aplicando criterios de inclusión y exclusión previamente establecidos, lo que permitió la selección final de 100 estudios. Resultados: evidenciaron que la comunicación terapéutica, la empatía, la inteligencia emocional, el trabajo en equipo y el liderazgo clínico incidieron directamente en la calidad de la atención y en la relación enfermero–paciente. Conclusiones: estas competencias estuvieron condicionadas por factores organizacionales y que su fortalecimiento resultó necesario para mejorar el cuidado humanizado en contextos críticos.
