Intervenciones de enfermería en el plan madre canguro: experiencias en el cuidado neonatal en un hospital de Ecuador.

La mortalidad neonatal sigue siendo un reto prioritario en la salud pública del Ecuador, especialmente en recién nacidos prematuros o de bajo peso, quienes presentan mayor vulnerabilidad clínica. En este contexto, el Plan Madre Canguro (PMC) se reconoce como una estrategia costo-efectiva que disminuye la morbimortalidad y promueve la humanización del cuidado, donde la enfermería cumple un rol esencial. El estudio, de diseño descriptivo transversal con enfoque mixto, se desarrolló en un hospital público de tercer nivel en Quito entre marzo y julio de 2025, con la participación de 32 profesionales de enfermería. Se utilizaron encuestas estructuradas y entrevistas semiestructuradas, analizadas mediante estadística descriptiva y contenido temático. Los hallazgos evidenciaron que las intervenciones más comunes fueron educación a padres, orientación en el contacto piel a piel, monitoreo clínico y apoyo en lactancia. Entre las principales debilidades se identificaron la falta de documentación estandarizada y deficiencias en la comunicación interdisciplinaria. Se concluye que fortalecer la capacitación, la coordinación profesional y la infraestructura es indispensable para garantizar la sostenibilidad y calidad del PMC en Ecuador.
