Análisis prospectivo de la energía nuclear como alternativa a la matriz energética del Ecuador: oportunidades y desafíos.

Este artículo analiza la viabilidad de incorporar la energía nuclear para diversificar la matriz energética del Ecuador. Mediante una revisión sistemática de literatura científica y un mapeo bibliométrico con VOSviewer, se identificaron tendencias, oportunidades y desafíos relevantes. En América Latina, la alta dependencia de fuentes hidroeléctricas y la vulnerabilidad ante fenómenos climáticos resaltan la necesidad de generación firme y baja en carbono, como la nuclear. No obstante, persisten retos en gobernanza, percepción social, gestión de residuos y fortalecimiento técnico-institucional. El estudio también recoge buenas prácticas internacionales que proponen integrar la energía nuclear como complemento a otras fuentes renovables, alineada con metas de descarbonización. Para Ecuador, este camino requiere marcos regulatorios sólidos, cooperación internacional y estrategias de comunicación ciudadana. La investigación proporciona insumos valiosos para orientar decisiones sobre una transición energética sostenible y justa, considerando tanto el contexto nacional como las dinámicas regionales.
